Supporting, Developing and Disseminating High Quality Professional Development Opportunities for Texas Public School Teachers

Provides Technology Training and Support on the Texas Math Diagnostic System and

Wireless Generation's PDA-based Math Assessment System for Regional K-2 Classrooms

PEIC centers are located on each of the 9 Texas A&M system campuses and are dedicated to the improvement of  P-16 academic performance. The PEIC centers have evolved from the Regents' I teacher performance and production grant designed to strengthened the novice teacher induction in "high need" areas. And, the PEIC center goals are to improve the P-16 academic performance/ Included in PEIC' initiatives are efforts to increase the high school completion rates in all participating high schools, community colleges and universities as well as an effort to improve the federal (AYP) and the state (TAKS) accountability performance in participating schools.

TAMU Undergraduates Tutor TAKS Math Concepts

Comments from Participant Teachers/Administrators:

  • Good to let teachers see what needs to be accomplished at each grade level.
  • It was very helpful to see how what I teach or don’t teach directly affects the grades higher than my own.
  • Manipulatives are really important in introducing concepts and help students better retain the lessons.
  • I will use today’s materials to start planning this week
